This is an exterior fabric awning we installed in Newcastle recently. Our customer chose a mesh fabric for the blind. This was a great choice on their front balcony because it allows them to keep out the sun, heat and glare. While maintaining privacy.
The fabric of the awning has an openness factor of 10% which means it stops 90% off the sun. Being dark in colour, during the day you can see out clearly but no one can see in. Dark fabrics are easier to see through than light ones. Both stop the same amount of light. It is a nice feeling sitting in privacy while watching the world outside.
These straight drop awnings can be spring operated, crank operated or motorised with a remote control. Side channels for the awning can be effective in enclosing an area and keeping light breezes out.
